about

An Irish Orphan is an amalgamation of two songs that appeared on the May Day Orchestra's most recent album, Ota Benga. The story tells the tale of Roger Casement, a British council who attempted to stop the slave trade, in the Belgian Congo. Whereas the original versions were primarily acoustic driven, The Union Electric's version adds effected electric guitars and bass.
